Characteristics of the Job: Coordinates a statewide program area administered by the Department of Agriculture; and performs other duties as required.
Minimum Requirement – High school graduate.
Minimum Requirement – Experience : Five years of administrative or inspection experience in agricultural programs. Substitute Education for Experience : Vocational or technical training in agriculture or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.
Position Type: Pay Grade 12 (MIN-MID) $29,129.28 – $38,588.64 yearly at 37.5 hour work week. or $31,071.12 – $41,161.20 yearly at 40 hour work week
Description of Job Duties
Coordinate on a statewide basis the Senior Farmer Market Program, Farm to School Program, & the Junior Chef Program administered by the Department of Agriculture; and performs other duties as required.Coordinate on a statewide basis the expansion & growth of the Senior Farmer Market Program, Farm to School Program, & the Junior Chef Program to help both producers, schools, seniors & students across the state. Attend annual meetings/conferences as well as Webinars & other required continuing education. Maintain program files & websites. Maintain & update monthly
newsletters.Senior Farmer Market Program: Coordinate & Train producers for the actual use & acceptance of product at market. Coordinate & train market managers on guidelines they must follow in order to be a credited Farmers Market. Coordinate and train individuals responsible for recording & distributing coupons to seniors.Review markets, farmers & distribution agencies yearly for compliance with regulations.Create/Review & Amend the State Plan annually. Process voucher reconciliation on a daily and monthly basis by monitoring & updating database on each producer/county and determine the redemption rate, as well as, reconcile any unredeemed vouchers. Collect and record program data within websites and files. Farm to School: Coordinate/provide trainings/technical support to Food Service Directors, Producers & entities that participate in the Program. Assist with food safety, procurement, bid reviewing & federal guidelines to maintain compliance. Aid in program development such as; curriculum, resource guide & brochures. Introduce local product/producers to food manufactures to further the Program.Junior Chef Program: Coordinate and Administer statewide culinary competition for grades 8th – 12th. Includes statewide promotion; recording all entries; determine & organize all district,
regional, state & national competitions; secure awards; and provide information for printing state booklet. Organize competitor’s schedules, hotel rooms, tours, summer workshops, gate passes & travel.Review recipes for compliance with federal meal pattern standards, public speaking & promotion via Webinars, etc. Develop Judging guidelines & provide technical assistance for the judges.Coordinate the judging schedule. Provide technical assistance for team coaches & students.Coordinate the judging schedule. Provide technical assistance for team coaches & students.Other duties as assigned.
